About Doggett |
Sam Caldwell's coastal scenes of waterfowl and gamefish
are prized by collectors from Texas to Maine. He was
named Texas State Artist for 2004. Sam says he enjoyed
knowing Joe Doggett from the time Joe joined the Houston
Chronicle as a reporter on the outdoor beat, until Joe
retired forty years later. Caldwell spends painting time
in the outdoors, as well as studios in Kingwood and
Houston. His work can be viewed at www.samcaldwell.com.

in 1969, and an MA in English/creative writing from the
